I have a number of patterns by this designer and have found them all to be easy to follow and really darling. One of the things I appreciate about this book is that it tells you exactly where to put the eyes (such as "between rows 17 and 18, 4 stitches apart...or what ever). I do not like patterns that simply say look at the photos for placement. This books is a real bargain. It includes 5 different snuggy blankets and 20..... yes, that is 20...toys. Simply make the entire animal (or one of 2 dolls) or make just the head and arms and attach to your chosen blanket. A real bargain. The book and photos are very well done with many showing just what parts should look like. I don't use charts, but found the type size fine for my 70 year old eyes.
Purchased mainly for the Maverick Monkey pattern; many other really cute Ami patterns in book. Used Vanna’s Choice yarn, larger monkey made with 4.00 mm hook, others with 3.50 mm hook. I made the muzzle a little smaller than pattern, used yarn for eyes, added the fuzzy hair and smile. Easy to follow instructions. The print in the paperback book is light, but readable. If you’re not using ebook, you could copy pages needed and darken them; although this should not be necessary with any pattern book.
Super cute patterns! This has taken my plushie game to a whole new level. Things I liked: easy to read patterns, detailed stitch instructions, and finishing tips. Things I don't like: I don't like having to flip through the book to find the instructions for each piece. If you were trying to save money on paper, eliminate the pattern diagrams and type out the instructions for each plushie.I did find myself having to tweak all the blanket patters despite my gauge being on point. However, after being a crocheter for over 20 years, I find myself tweaking all the patterns I use.
Well written patterns for a number of animals and blankets to create either just the animal or to attach the head and arms to a blanket to create a lovey.
I wouldn't say this is for a beginner crocheter, but I've already made two of the designs, the bunny and Cooper loveys. The animals are much larger than I thought, and on the bunny used a smaller crochet hook. On the bunny lovey, I made the blankie part much larger than the instructions. To me, it just seemed the head was too large for the blankie. Otherwise, I love the patterns and can't wait to make more. the projects go very quickly and are easy for an intermediate crocheter to understand.
With several blankets patterns and lots of animals you can mix and match to make all kinds of wonderful softies and loveys. The patterns are simple to follow and there are lots of color photos. I've made 8 projects from this book so far and have loved how everyone of them has come out. I plan to eventually work my way through the entire book of patterns.
The only issue I have with this book is the author does not tell you how much yarn each pattern takes. The patterns themselves are clear to follow. I love the little girl and little boy. I have made the giraffe and it turned out great! The facial expressions are so cute!
I have just begun making amigurumi, and when I saw this book I had to have it. The patterns are so cute, and perfect for baby shower gifts or a just-because gift. I can't wait to make some of these!
