I seldom read and review children's books, but this one looked interesting. As a retired officer I found this Board Buddies book about the police an excellent volume for young children. The thick pages have bright full color photographs along with a brief poetic explanation of what police officers do every day. This clever children's book covers patrolmen (A patrolman walking on his beat chases a burglar up the street), detectives (Solving crimes both old and new, detectives look for every clue), as well as other patrol officer's duties. At the end the message is clear "The police are our friends." The slick thick pages can be wiped down and will not tear because of the strong cardboard design. This makes it ideal for young children.In conclusion, this is a cute and durable book that mothers may want to check out for their small children.Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. I bought this book for a first grade boy who loves to dress up like a Police Officer. The book truly covers all of the duties that a Police Officer covers in his job, and it does it with great illustrations and nice colors, especially of the patrol cars. I would recommend this book for any child who shows a interest in Police Officers or who may wonder what their job is. I enjoyed reading it before giving it to my little friend, I am sure all ages would too! Thank You!
This will be a great book to help our child visualize and learn about what daddy does at work. I appreciate that it shows a lot more about what police do everyday besides just writing tickets and taking people to jail. It shows how they assist people when they're injured, in danger, or just need a helping hand from an officer! Very happy with this purchase.
We love this book! My 3 yo is obsessed with policemen, but also a bit scared of them, so I wanted to get a book like this one to reassure him that police are there to help. It's perfect for his age - a step up from the board books, but not too "wordy" so that he loses interest. It's cute and well-written, and I have now purchased the fireman one from the same author. Def recommend!
This is a favorite of my 2 yr old Grandson. The rhyming verse and the simple word explanation of what the Police do is great. Any little boy will love it too.

I bought this e-book for my grandchildren. The pictures are great. If I had paid more, I might have given it 4 stars. The kids love it, and ask to read it again and again, and that's good enough for me. A keeper. We also got the Firefighter book, which was an even bigger hit! Recommend for younger children only. 2-5
I thought the book described how officers help , protect and serve us, all though it is good. I hope to find more books about this, which is my goal to teach my grandkids this important topic.
